When should you start preparing your applications ?
(Earlier thank you think)
We get this question all the time - when should you start preparing your applications ?
Here’s the timeline you should follow if you want to take the process seriously:
1 year before you start applying you should have a vague idea of where you would like to apply (names of institutions, locations, at least a vague of idea of programs you want to target).
8-5 months before : start preparing for GMAT / GRE other accepted tests for your desired programs (grants you more adaptability and flexibility for rounds).
4 months before : start becoming specific on when you want to apply, your program deadlines, your application list, requirements for each program.
3 months before : ask for your recommender’s approval, start re-doing / updating your CV, a more definite trajectory of your 3 year carrer plan post-graduation (location, role, specific industry), compiling the essay questions you will have to answer, personal statements, etc.
2 months before: craft your narrative edge, reach out to people in the programs to better understand the program’s DNA, start drafting everything you need to write, due diligence the industries you will be mentioning to showcase genuine curiosity
1 month before: finishing touches on your essays to apply comfortably at least 2 weeks before the deadline.
