Simplifying the application timeline from your test prep to receiving an offer!
Applying to grad schools can be really confusing and hectic. When should you take your GMAT? When should you research programs? From preparing for exams to submitting applications, the path to receiving an offer can be filled with uncertainties. That's why we're here to provide you with a month-by-month schedule, helping you navigate through the entire application process while keeping seasonality in mind! 🏆🗓️

Now, let us decode this perplexing process! Keep in mind this a general timeline and can vary based on specific cases (e.g you only want to apply to R1 everywhere):
📅 June - September: Kickstart Your Test Prep Journey
As the fall semester begins, it's an excellent time to start planning your test preparation. Whether you're aiming for the GMAT, GRE, or any other standardized test, take this month to research study materials, enroll in prep courses, or establish a study routine that works best for you.
🌱 August - October: Dive into Application Requirements
Now that you've familiarized yourself with the test format and content, shift your focus to researching the universities or programs you wish to apply to. Explore their application requirements, such as essays, recommendation letters, and transcripts. Take note of any deadlines and start drafting your personal statements.
📝 October - November: Begin Crafting Your Essays
November is all about putting your thoughts into words. Start outlining your essays, emphasizing your unique experiences, goals, and aspirations. Seek feedback from mentors, professors, or friends to strengthen your narratives. Additionally, reach out to potential recommenders and provide them with ample time to write your letters of recommendation. You should reach out to recommenders as early in the year.
🗓️ December: Finalize Your Standardized Test
If you haven't taken your standardized test yet, aim to complete it by December, allowing for potential retakes if required (2-3 retries are common). Reserve a test date well in advance and utilize this month to fine-tune your skills and strategies. Remember to request score reports be sent to your desired universities.
📚 January: Polish Your Application Materials and Submit Your Applications
Now that the bulk of your essays are complete, focus on polishing and refining your application materials. Review your academic transcript, update your resume, and make sure all documents are error-free and well-organized. Seek additional feedback to ensure your application is cohesive and compelling. As application deadlines approach, double-check the requirements of each university on your list. Submit your applications well in advance to avoid any last-minute technical glitches or unforeseen delays. Keep track of submission confirmations and required financial documents.
🌷 February: Await Interview Invitations
Congratulations on submitting your applications! February is often a waiting game as universities begin to review your materials. While you eagerly anticipate interview invitations, use this time to research interview etiquette, common questions, and refine your responses. Stay positive and prepare diligently.
🗂️ March: Attend Interviews and Campus Visits
As interview invitations roll in, schedule and attend interviews either on-campus or remotely. Research each university to demonstrate your enthusiasm and ask insightful questions. If feasible, plan campus visits to get a better sense of the environment and connect with faculty or current students.

In April, you may start receiving admissions decisions. Take the time to review acceptance offers, scholarship opportunities, and financial aid packages. Consider your options, and don't hesitate to reach out to admissions offices for clarification. Send gratitude emails to interviewers and maintain positive relationships.

Congratulations on your acceptance into graduate school! This is a time to commemorate your achievements and celebrate the exciting future ahead. Begin making arrangements for housing, finances, and any necessary paperwork. Connect with future classmates and stay engaged with the university's pre-orientation events.
