LBS or HEC ?

Both are exceptional programs and will offer you fantastic opportunities, so if you have offers from both programs congratulations !

These decisions are never black or white. It all boils down to your professional, personal goals, budget etc. Based on what you have written on your description, both programs will offer you equal access to employers.

1. Urban Life vs Country Side Campus

Obviously the first major difference between the two is where you will live and study. London Business School is in the heart of London, ideal for constantly meeting new people, exploring the city, and having a taste of corporate life in the City.

HEC’s campus however is in Jouy-en-Josas, 49mn from the center of Paris by car. You will be able to enjoy the country side and enjoy more of a campus lifestyle with the various societies and activities proposed by HEC.

2. UK vs. France

The first question we usually ask our students who hesitate is where they see themselves working in the future. Brand name is highly important in french corporate culture and HEC is seen as the nec plus ultra of business schools there. LBS will be recognised more globally as it generally boasts a more diverse cohort, which will open many doors globally, particularly if you would like to start your career in London. Rest assured both will open many doors either way.

3. Progam Structure

Regarding the faculty and quality of education both schools are world class. LBS is generally seen as a shorter program for students (12 to 16 months) who want to work in the following year. Whereas HEC is a slightly slower paced program as such :

• Year 1: Core and Elective courses

• Year 2: Specialisations and Research Paper

• Gap Year possible

• Possibility of double degree in Year 2

This year Piotr chose HEC-Yale’s M2M program, while Naël decided to go with the LBS MiM.
