My draining GRE Prep experience (from one of our students) 👨‍🎓

Like many other test-takers, I opted for the GRE over the GMAT, confident in my English skills (and rightly so, as a native speaker!) but not so much in my quantitative ones. Little did I know, the quant section had its own set of sly challenges waiting for me. 😓

I'll admit, I fumbled my GRE preparation, and not just the quant part! I underestimated the immense commitment needed to snag those high scores that Europe’s top-tier schools demand. The consequence? A retake and a delayed application. So, where did I falter? 🤔

The Theoretical Trap: 📚 I dived headfirst into the intricate theories and sub-topics, immersing myself in the intellectual depths of heavy textbooks. However, I overlooked the essence of mental agility and flexibility. Mastering the swift dance between diverse questions and knowing when to step back from a tricky one is an art, honed only through rigorous practice.

The Marathon Mistake: 🏃 I crammed intense revision into short, stressful bursts, unaware of the magic that unfolds when the brain revisits a problem with fresh eyes. The secret? Consistent, relaxed study sessions that span a wider timeframe, letting innovative solutions and insights blossom naturally.

The Comfort Zone Conundrum: 😌 I indulged in revising my strong suits, avoiding the intimidating terrains of my weaker topics. But beware – true triumph lies in braving the uncomfortable, strategically confronting and conquering those menacing topics (yes, including those bloody quadratics!).

In essence, attaining that coveted score is an intricate dance of intellectual prowess, strategic preparation, and emotional resilience. Dive into the depths, but remember to surface for air.
